What Do You Think?

What everyone else is thinking

I think the painting is very lifelike. I find myself drawn to her face more than anything else and considering the title of the picture it would therefore seem that Jeremy Holton has been successful. While the Council obviously has the right to choose whatever pieces they prefer for their exhibition, to claim that this work is lewd or pornographic is simply asinine.

To my eye she doesn't have a "vacant expression" naia, but a rather happy one.

You are spot on with the Klimt comment as my work is more about pattern than anything else and Klimt has been a strong influence.

Yes, I probably shouldn't have put it in for the Council exhibition and I thought there was a good chance it would be rejected due to the content.

However, I was and still am genuinely surprised that people should consider it to be pornographic and even more surprised that having rejected the painting quite reasonably on the grounds of its content the gallery director should then claim it was rejected due to poor quality!!!

I am not sure if it is good publicity.

Thanks for your support Arturo, maybe this is part of the process of education.

looks better "unabridged", however her vacant ('are you done yet?')expression does not really engage the viewer with the model as a person, so much as her body parts. the "drape" is treated well, ala Gustav Klimt. Good job on that
(and the repetition of the nipple form in the fabric pattern is a neat device). It is still, however, an image that teeters between exploitation and worship of "woman". It may well be "art", but it might not be appropriate for the particular exhibition it was submitted to. There are MANY alternative exhibition opportunities. Great publicity stunt also. nothing like a good debate to wake everybody up,

We might as well close Sistine Chapel if Jeremy`s artwork is consider pornographic! These people has to be educated in Art!

It becomes hard sometime to take your kids to different places with all the semi clad females, the painting very nice but l also feel there should be more control over what goes on display. Maybe he should have done a half nake man instead!

I would be very proud if I had produced such a skilled painting. Puts talentless abstract rubbish to shame.

Looks like the art was doing what it was supposed to... evoke emotions. Guess that classifies it as censorship.

Harmless! Also quite a good painting. You see worse than this on TV any day of the week.

I think it's a beautiful, sensuous work of art....
