Oh no. It's starting to get warm.
I heard some flies buzzing around the screen door the other day -- one of the signature sounds of the Australian summer.
It sent a prickle down my spine.

Writing is a funny vocation. I don't know about you, but when I've finished writing something, I usually feel quite limp and wrung out, like I've donated a little too much blood and a spleen has fallen out as well. A glass of orange juice and a hard lolly just isn't going to cut it.

I had the pleasure of visiting a friend's grandparents a few weeks ago, and when I entered their house I thought, isn't it funny how similar Nanna houses are?
For one, there is the Nanna smell, composed of talc (with a base of old-fashioned roses or lavender), polished wood, a hint of shag carpet, and fruit cake (depending on the time of day).

As a teenager in the early '90s, I was an enormous sook and relatively uncool.

Don’t you hate it when ...
... you are driving along a suburban street, not a main road, but a semi-busy street nonetheless, and you come across someone who has decided to park their car in the middle of the road? And let's say this brainiac has also left their passenger door wide open. Not the door next to the verge, but the one on the side closest to the middle.... more »

I was riding the train to work this morning and gazing out the window, when I noticed a man staring at me. Actually, he was staring at my reflection, so I was actually staring back at his reflection, but you know what I mean.
