Hi all,

Just a quick note to say I'm going on holiday, and that I'll be back at the end of January.

Where to? Oh, just over the pond.

I will be visiting places where people say, "Ja," and "Nein," and "Achtung!" just as I am about to walk off a precipice. (Actually, they will probably say, "Sei vorsichtig!" which I would pay less attention to, and then I'll be in trouble.)

I will also be hearing a lot of "Bonjour!" and "Un mouchoir, mademoiselle?" when I mentally convert Euros to dollars in my head and hot tears cascade down my cheeks (if the Europeans are going through the same economic crisis as the rest of the world, why is their currency still pantsing our dollar?)

I will worry that pickpockets will steal my passport, and I will have to go and live with the gypsies.

I will worry that my ATM card won't work (apparently most of Europe is using those shiny smart chip thingies instead of magnetic stripes), and I'll have to dance to a mouth organ for money.

I will look at what is left of the Berlin Wall, and worry that part of it might fall on me.

I will eat too many pastries, and then worry that too little fibre and too many worries will result in uncomfortable internal blockage, which will distract me from fully taking in the wonder of Van Gogh's Starry Night over the Rhone.

I will play in the snow, and worry that my contact lenses will freeze onto my eyeballs, or that I will be trapped in an avalanche and be forced to eat bits of myself to survive (I'm looking at you, bingo arms.)

Basically, I don't expect my innards to unclench until I'm back on Australian soil.

But I hope to have lots of nice pictures and interesting stories for you.

Merry Christmas!

Angie
