What the?

EARLIER this week, the gorgeous and talented Pete Murray rejoined the touring circuit, performing two shows at the Regal Theatre in Subiaco.

Often described as the ‘drinking woman’s’ heart-throb, Murray is the perfect mix of brawn, good looks – and who could forget that voice?

However, as attractive as I find Murray to be (and yes, I am a drinking woman!), I seem to be among very few woman in Perth (and probably around Australia) that actually have enough brains to realise that hello, he is happily married man and no matter what amount of lewd, suggestive remarks and wolf whistles are thrown at him, things probably aren’t going to change in a hurry.

At some stages during the Tuesday night concert, I actually felt like I was in the audience of a Chippendales show (minus the naked men on stage) and really felt embarrassed for the man up on stage who was simply trying to do what he does best.

I mean, really, what do you think yelling “take your clothes off” and “you’re hot Pete” is really going to achieve?

Sure, cheer and applaud the music, but keep your dirty thoughts to yourself – no one really wants to know that you are picturing him naked instead of in those sexy flannel shirts he wears so well.

And on a similar note – when did Perth music crowds turn into a bunch of country yobbos? (And yes, I’m allowed to say that as I am also from the country!)

I think either every man in the crowd was dragged along by their girlfriends and therefore got blotto before the gig, or they felt so threatened by Pete’s masculinity that they also needed to yell and scream out rubbish (in what they thought was their manliest voice possible) that had people scratching their heads.

I mean – “Go Bulldogs!”. What does that have to do with anything?

Hmm, I had to check the venue as I thought he might have been playing somewhere dodgy to warrant that kind of crowd response, but nope, Regal Theatre, perfectly respectable. He seems a nice guy though, when he was interviewed on the radio this morning about Perth audiences he said they were the best in the country, or something to that effect.
