SOUTH Fremantle IGA has been recognised for its quality and performance by winning the Canning Village Best Store Award.

In what was a rare feat, the store had all six of its departments nominated in the individual categories, resulting in the store coming out overall winners in the competition.

Owner Tony Jardim said the store was different to others because it stocked a wide range of gluten-free and organic foods.

“We were very surprised when we found out we had won despite us working hard all the time,” he said.

“The award is based on four month inspections where we’re checked for quality and cleanliness to make sure the shop looks right and they check the performance, variety and that the wastage is under control.”
