KNITTERS are needed for an event that is taking place in Perth’s CBD this week.
Organisers of Converge 2012 are seeking people with the skill to take part in Knit Fest at Wesley Church.
Participants will help create a huge knitted unity scarf that will then be made into blankets for the needy.
Organiser Wendy Yapp said the event would bring all mainstream church denominations for four days of prayer for the community.
“The knitting aspect is really an outward illustration of the Christian unity expressed in the services being held over these four days,” Mrs Yapp said.
“We would really encourage city workers to join in during their lunch hour and knit a few rows with us – it’s a wonderful way to express our sense of community.”
The event starts at Wesley Church on Wednesday and ends Saturday with a Family Fun Day including a sausage sizzle in aid of the Esther Foundation. An evening rally that night will end the event.
